I'm a post doc microbial ecologist. My dissertation work was on the bacteria that inhabit Yellowstone hot springs. Now I'm working on the communities that live in the oxygen minimum zone in the north Pacific. This blog is probably going to be pretty nerdy with an occasional side of backpacking, gardening, politics, or pretty much whatever else fancies me. The styrofoam cup in the header was sent to 4200 m deep in the ocean which shrunk it down to about 1 inch tall.
